In this episode, Mark Mason and Will Perez walk through four powerful lessons from the Doctrine and Covenants and Life Preparation curriculum. Each segment is designed to help seminary teachers create meaningful, student-centered learning experiences that deepen conversion to Jesus Christ.
Will explores the martyrdom of Joseph and Hyrum Smith, helping teachers strengthen students’ testimonies of Joseph Smith as the Prophet of the Restoration. This segment includes practical ideas for preparing students, engaging them in thoughtful reflection, and pointing them toward Jesus Christ.
Mark shows how to focus this lesson on emotional resilience centered in Jesus Christ. Using President Christofferson’s powerful conference message from 2024, this segment models how to help students identify emotions, see the Savior’s role in their healing, and practice turning to Him in their own challenges.
Will guides teachers through Joseph Smith’s vision of the celestial kingdom, connecting Joseph’s personal losses to students’ own experiences with grief. This segment highlights the principle that the Lord judges us according to our works and the desires of our hearts.
Mark covers President Joseph F. Smith’s vision of the work for the dead. He shares ways to help students understand how Jesus Christ offers salvation to all of Heavenly Father’s children—on both sides of the veil—and provides activities to help students feel the fairness and love behind God’s plan.
