It may be necessary to evacuate a building during such incidents as epidemics, high winds, floods, chemical spills, terrorism, active shooters, fires, or bomb threats.
Preplan all evacuation routes and assembly locations (with alternates).
Take roll every day at the beginning of class. If evacuation is necessary, you will need to account for every student.
Calmly evacuate students and others to a predesignated area. Bring class rolls to account for all students.
Assist handicapped students in evacuating the building.
Check classrooms, other rooms, rest rooms, common areas, and the serving area.
Contact emergency personnel.
Report any missing persons to emergency response personnel.
Keep students quiet and orderly.
Keep vehicle traffic areas clear at all times.
Release students only when it is safe to do so.
Do not reenter the building until emergency personnel grant permission.
See the “Incident Reporting” page of this site for instructions on reporting the incident.
