For this week, we have responded to some of the feedback received and have addressed each lesson in the seminary curriculum specifically. There is also an audio only "podcast" version for those who prefer it. The video is broekn down into "chapters" that you can navigate if you want to just find a specific lesson more easily. See time stamps in description.
In this dispensation, although we live in a special time, the world has not been blessed with the righteousness and unity described in 4 Nephi. Indeed, we live in a moment of particularly strong divisions. However, the millions who have accepted the gospel of Jesus Christ have committed themselves to achieving both righteousness and unity. We are all aware that we can do better, and that is our challenge in this day. We can be a force to lift and bless society as a whole. At this 200-year hinge point in our Church history, let us commit ourselves as members of the Lord’s Church to live righteously and be united as never before. President Russell M. Nelson has asked us “to demonstrate greater civility, racial and ethnic harmony and mutual respect.” This means loving each other and God and accepting everyone as brothers and sisters and truly being a Zion people.

Young Adult Devotional with Elder and Sister Bednar on November 3rd at 6pm MST.
As Elder Bednar just reminded us at General Conference, the Book of Mormon was written for OUR day! 3 Nephi chapters 21-26 are extremely prophetic and speak specifically to the identity and mission of the rising generation. How will you help the Savior's teachings ring with relevance for your students this week?
My dear young brothers and sisters, these surely are the latter days, and the Lord is hastening His work to gather Israel. That gathering is the most important thing taking place on earth today. Nothing else compares in magnitude, nothing else compares in importance, nothing else compares in majesty. And if you choose to, if you want to, you can be a big part of it. You can be a big part of something big, something grand, something majestic!
This gathering should mean everything to you. This is the mission for which you were sent to earth.

As fate would have it, studying the terrible destruction that the Nephites experienced due to natural calamities coincided with hurricane Helene’s arrival and the awful damage left in her wake. Our hearts go out to our communities—including many of you—who are enduring painful hardship and unresolved needs. This week’s Book of Mormon chapters are powerful reminders of what Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin testified of in 2006:
“Each of us will have our own Fridays—those days when the universe itself seems shattered and the shards of our world lie littered about us in pieces. We all will experience those broken times when it seems we can never be put together again. We will all have our Fridays. But I testify to you in the name of the One who conquered death—Sunday will come. In the darkness of our sorrow, Sunday will come. No matter our desperation, no matter our grief, Sunday will come. In this life or the next, Sunday will come.”
For the Nephites—and for you and your students—the darkness ultimately dispelled and was replaced with light, healing, and one-on-one experiences with the Savior. It did not happen right away, but these chapters ring as true as ever. As we liken these scriptures unto ourselves, we can trust that the “third Nephi chapter 8s” in our lives can turn into “third Nephi chapter seventeens.”
A strong and reliable connection between the ground and a foundation is essential if a structure is to remain sturdy and stable over time…In a similar way, the foundation of our lives must be connected to the rock of Christ if we are to remain firm and steadfast. The sacred covenants and ordinances of the Savior’s restored gospel can be compared to the anchor pins and steel rods used to connect a building to bedrock. Every time we faithfully receive, review, remember, and renew sacred covenants, our spiritual anchors are secured ever more firmly and steadfastly to the “rock” of Jesus Christ.

"Life of the World." "Light of the World." "Alpha and Omega." "As a hen gathereth her chickens." "Arm of Mercy." "Healer." This scripture block is full of titles, roles, and attributes of Jesus Christ. Consider keeping a running list with your class. Which ones are obvious? Which ones take a little more digging? Which ones are their favorites? Which ones have they experienced? How would they draw a representation of their favorite one? Enjoy searching the scriptures with your students this week!
"...One of the greatest missionaries of the Book of Mormon is President Russell M. Nelson. When he was a newly called Apostle, he gave a lecture in Accra, Ghana. In attendance were dignitaries, including an African tribal king, with whom he spoke through an interpreter. The king was a serious student of the Bible and loved the Lord. Following President Nelson’s remarks, he was approached by that king, who asked in perfect English, “Just who are you?” President Nelson explained that he was an ordained Apostle of Jesus Christ. The king’s next question was “What can you teach me about Jesus Christ?" President Nelson reached for the Book of Mormon and opened it to 3 Nephi 11. Together President Nelson and the king read the Savior’s sermon to the Nephites: “Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world. … I am the light and the life of the world." President Nelson presented the king with that copy of the Book of Mormon, and the king responded, “You could have given me diamonds or rubies, but nothing is more precious to me than this additional knowledge about the Lord Jesus Christ.” (Ronald A. Rasband, "This Day," October 2022)
